I'm mourning the lack of excuses to take me back to SB this summer.I don't know if it's safe to run when you're sore, but it's awful, I don't recommend it. I find that when I work out with my physical therapist, he doesn't leave me that sore because he's there to support my running. Personal trainers aim for better all-around health, which sometimes diverges from being a better runner. If it weren't for the 1000 miles, I'd say put the running on the back burner until you get used to weight training. If you think of your mission this year as something like training for an event though, I would let Sandy know your priorities. Give her feedback about how sore you were after the previous session; most personal trainers are open to different goals.

Very jealous of your working weekend!
